1. Eligibility

1.1 User Account Eligibility
Only current University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) students are eligible to create user accounts and access the resources on this Site. By creating an account, you affirm that you are a current UWSOM student. The Site administrators are henceforth referred to as "Huskies" in this document.

1.2 Account Creation and Responsibility
To access the Site's features, you must create an account using accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

2. License to Use the Site

2.1 Non-Commercial Use Only
The resources available on the Site are intended solely for non-commercial, educational, and informational purposes. Users are prohibited from using the Site or any of its content for commercial purposes.

2.2 Access and Restrictions
Users are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to access and use the Site and its content solely for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes. Users may not:
  • Copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, or create derivative works from any content available on the Site without prior written permission, except as permitted by these Terms.
  • Reverse-engineer, disassemble, or attempt to discover the source code of the Site or any part of it.

3. User-Uploaded Content

3.1 Content Upload and Ownership
Users may upload content, including but not limited to documents, images, videos, and other educational resources ("User Content") to the Site. By uploading User Content, you affirm that:
  • You own or have the necessary rights and permissions to upload the content.
  • The User Content is accurate, non-defamatory, and does not infringe on the intellectual property or privacy rights of third parties.

3.2 License Grant
By uploading User Content, you grant Huskies a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute the User Content solely for the purposes of operating the Site and providing educational services.

4. Copyright and Intellectual Property

4.1 No Responsibility for Copyright Infringement
While Huskies encourages respect for intellectual property rights, we do not take responsibility for any potential copyright infringement related to User Content uploaded to the Site. It is the responsibility of the User to ensure that any content they upload does not violate copyright laws.

4.2 Copyright Infringement Procedure
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been uploaded to the Site in violation of your rights, please contact us with the following information:
  • A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
  • The specific location of the infringing content on the Site.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the copyrighted work is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement that the information provided is accurate and under penalty of perjury.
Upon receiving a valid copyright infringement notice, we will promptly investigate and, if appropriate, remove the infringing content from the Site.

5. Prohibited Uses

Users agree not to use the Site for any unlawful, harmful, or disruptive activities, including but not limited to:
  • Uploading content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Uploading or transmitting viruses, malware, or other harmful software.
  • Harassing, defaming, or abusing other users.
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Site, other users' accounts, or the Site's infrastructure.
  • Using the Site to engage in any illegal activity.

6. Termination of Account

6.1 Termination by Huskies
Huskies reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Site at any time, without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that is harmful to the operation of the Site.

6.2 Termination by User
Users may terminate their account at any time by contacting Huskies support or by using the account deletion feature on the Site. Upon termination, your access to the Site and its resources will be revoked.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

7.1 No Warranty
The Site is provided "as-is" and "as available." Huskies does not make any representations or warranties regarding the Site's functionality, reliability, or availability. We do not warrant that the Site will be error-free or free from viruses or other harmful components.

7.2 Educational Content Disclaimer
The content available on the Site is provided for educational and informational purposes only. Huskies makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or applicability of the content to any particular user or situation.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Huskies shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any other damages or losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or your inability to access or use the Site, even if Huskies has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Huskies, its affiliates, and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
  • Your use of the Site.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Any content you upload or submit to the Site.

10. Privacy

By using the Site, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information as described in the Huskies Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will only use your information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

11. Modifications to Terms

Huskies reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time, without notice. All changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site. By continuing to use the Site after any changes are posted, you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

12.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflicts of law principles.

12.2 Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Site shall be resolved through binding arbitration conducted in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall take place in Seattle, Washington.

13. Miscellaneous

13.1 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

13.2 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Huskies regarding your use of the Site and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
